Introduction to the Professional Editor

The Picify Editor is a powerful, browser-based image editing tool that brings professional-grade capabilities directly to your browser. Whether you're creating social media graphics, editing photos, or designing marketing materials, the editor provides all the tools you need without requiring any software installation.

Built with performance and usability in mind, our editor combines the familiar workflows of desktop applications like Photoshop with the convenience of cloud-based tools. Your work is always accessible, and you can seamlessly switch between devices.

Pro tip: The editor works best in modern browsers like Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge. For optimal performance, we recommend using the latest version of your preferred browser.

Interface Layout

The editor interface is organized into several key areas, each designed for specific tasks. Understanding this layout will help you work more efficiently.

The Toolbar

Located on the left side of the screen, the toolbar contains all your primary editing tools. From selection tools to brushes, text, and shapes, everything you need is organized in logical groups. Hover over any tool to see its name and keyboard shortcut.

  • Selection tools: Rectangle, ellipse, lasso, and magic wand selections
  • Transform tools: Move, rotate, and scale your elements
  • Painting tools: Brush, pencil, eraser, and clone stamp
  • Retouching tools: Blur, sharpen, dodge, burn, and smudge
  • Fill tools: Paint bucket and gradient
  • Vector tools: Shapes, pen, and text

The Canvas

The canvas is your main workspace, occupying the center of the screen. This is where your image is displayed and where all editing takes place. You can zoom in and out using the scroll wheel or the zoom controls in the bottom corner.

The canvas supports various navigation methods:

  • Zoom: Use Ctrl/Cmd + scroll wheel or the zoom slider
  • Pan: Hold Space and drag, or use the scroll bars
  • Fit to screen: Press Ctrl/Cmd + 0 to fit the entire image
  • Actual size: Press Ctrl/Cmd + 1 to view at 100% zoom

Side Panels

On the right side, you'll find several collapsible panels that provide additional controls and information:

  • Layers panel: Manage your document's layer structure
  • Properties panel: View and edit properties of selected elements
  • History panel: Navigate through your editing history
  • Color panel: Choose colors for painting and filling

The top menu bar provides access to file operations, edit commands, view options, filters, and help resources. Key menu items include:

  • File: New project, open, save, export, and import
  • Edit: Undo, redo, cut, copy, paste, and transform
  • Image: Canvas size, image size, rotation, and flip

Basic Workflow Overview

Here's a typical workflow for creating a design in the Picify Editor:

1. Set Up Your Canvas

Start by creating a new project with the appropriate dimensions for your intended use. Choose a preset or enter custom dimensions.

2. Import Assets

Bring in your images, logos, and other assets by dragging and dropping them onto the canvas or using File > Import. Each imported element automatically becomes its own layer.

3. Arrange and Transform

Use the Move tool (V) to position elements. Resize and rotate using the transform handles that appear when an element is selected. Hold Shift while resizing to maintain aspect ratio.

4. Add Text and Graphics

Use the Text tool (T) to add headlines, body copy, and captions. Draw shapes with the Shape tools or create custom paths with the Pen tool.

5. Apply Adjustments and Effects

Enhance your images with adjustments like brightness/contrast, hue/saturation, and levels. Apply creative effects like blur, sharpen, or artistic filters.

6. Fine-Tune with Layers

Organize your composition using layers. Adjust opacity, change blend modes, and group related elements together for easier management.

7. Save and Export

Save your project in JSON format to preserve layers for future editing. Export your final design in the appropriate format (PNG, JPEG, SVG, or PDF) based on your intended use.

Pro tip: Save your work frequently using Ctrl/Cmd + S. The editor supports auto-recovery, but it's always best to save manually at key milestones in your editing process.
